Why a Skinny Margarita?
Why is it called a "skinny" margarita? The sugar and other additives included in store-bought mixes are simply absent in this one. This thin margarita recipe asks for only four ingredients. Tequila Blanco, moderate agave nectar, fresh orange juice (in place of syrupy orange liqueur), and lime juice.
You may use reposado tequila if you like, but I prefer blanco or espolón. While both blanco and reposado tequilas are clear, the latter is tinted and has a trace of vanilla flavor from short barrel age. You are allowed to use any one you choose; it is a personal choice!

What's the Difference Between a Skinny and a Regular Margarita?
So, why is this slim margarita named so? Is it going to make you slender, or something else? Well, the solution is straightforward. We cannot say if it will make you slender or not, but we can claim that it is gentler on your waistline. Like, what?
When it comes to alcohol, the thin margarita uses less tequila. A standard margarita typically contains 3 ounces of alcohol, including tequila and orange liqueur. However, with the thin version, each drink contains just 1 ounce of tequila.
Here are some tips!
When creating thin margaritas, use freshly squeezed lime juice. Do not create the margarita mix more than a few hours ahead of time because the lime juice's taste fades with age.
The utilization of high-quality ingredients is essential for cocktails of this nature. Make it using triple sec and excellent tequila.
Customize the recipe by altering the tequila and sugar proportions. I use half of the agave nectar since I prefer my margaritas on the sour side.
You may easily add additional sugar if you like a sweeter drink. If the tequila's strength is too strong for you, reduce the amount you drink.
On the other hand, you may add some soda to water.

Do you want to try some variations?
Before adding ice and the additional ingredients to your shaker, muddle a few pieces of juicy fruit, such as strawberries, peaches, watermelon, or mango, in the bottom.
For a garden-inspired taste, garnish with basil or cilantro. For a spicy kick, add a thin slice of serrano or jalapeño. In addition to the grapefruit serrano (on the left in the image above), another great combination is strawberry basil (not shown).
Put a little fruit juice jam or compote in your shaker. One of my favorite methods to cut through the flavor of tequila is to add freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Juices containing pomegranate or cranberries would be ideal for the holidays.
